I’m still not getting the hang of the way Dutch people say the word “Lunch.” Lunch as in the midday meal we have during our break. They don’t have the correct translation for it, so they just go with the english one. As we know, Lunch, in english, is read [luhnch] with the “u” part almost sounding like “ah.” Here, people just say it with the “u” part just like Indonesian “u” but with a stop (if you ever learn Dutch or French, then you know what I mean). So, they literally read the Lunch, as if an Indonesian without any english knowledge.
The word “Lunch” is integrated in either english sentences or dutch sentences. So, you will hear: “are we going for lunch?” or “ga je mee lunchen?” and remember: with the “U.”
